Conradh na Gaeilge is sponsoring the main Irish-language poetry competition of the Strokestown International Poetry Festival again this year, Duais de hÍde 2019.

This is a competition for poems composed in the Irish-Gaelic language only. Poems of 70 lines or less must be submitted by 7 December 2018 and must not have been previously published.

The winner will be announced in Strokestown, Co. Roscommon, in 2019.

  • 3rd Prize €300
  • €200 in reading fees for three other shortlistees

The 6 shortlisted poems will feature in Duanaire Bhéal na mBuillí 2018 / Strokestown Anthology 2019.

ceaiti crThree volumes of Ceaití’s poems have been published by Coiscéim: Meirge an Laoich, Púca Gan Dealramh, An Teorainn Bheo. She was writer-in-residence at the Díseart in Dingle, 2008-2009, and an active member of the Féile Bheag Filíochta committee, 2008–2015. She edited the uniquely handcrafted book of poetry in honour of Monsignor Pádraig Ó Fiannachta, An Chraobh Óir: Festscrift don Ollamh (IMRAM, 2011); and was editor of Crú Capaill: Dánta Mháirín Feirtéar (An Sagart, 2013). Two short dramas written by Ceaití have been successfully staged at the LAB theatre, Dingle. In support of her writing she was awarded a bursary by Ealaín na Gaeltachta (2014) and one by The Arts Council (2010). Duais Fhoras na Gaeilge 2015 is among the awards she has received for her poetry..
