They are Irish language classes for adults (18+) for all levels between beginners and fluent speakers. 

Classes follow the Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge curriculum and the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. 

Classes are small in size and are taught by experienced teachers.

The in-person classes take place in Dublin in Conradh na Gaeilge's Head Office, 6 Harcourt Street, Dublin 2, D02VH98 and in Galway in Áras na nGael, 45 Dominick Street Lower, H91 E1NY. Online classes take place over Zoom.

In Dublin, 4 terms are hosted during the year. Spring Term, which takes place between January & April; Summer Term, that takes place during May & July; the August Intensive Course, which happens for 3 weeks in August and Autumn Term, which takes place between September and December. With the exception of the August Intensive Course they are all 10-week terms, with a 2-hour class each week between 19.00 - 21.00 (in-person classes) and between 19.00 - 20.30 online.

Beginners 1: A basic course for complete beginners (Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge, TEG level A1, www.teg.ie)

Beginners 2: A continuation of Beginners 1, or for those who have previously completed a beginners' course in Irish (Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge, TEG level A1)

Bunrang 1: A basic refresher course suitable for people who studied Irish in the past (Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge level A2)

Bunrang 2: A continuation of Bunrang 1 (Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge level A2)

Meánrang 1: For people with a reasonably good understanding of Irish but lack confidence in speaking the language (Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge level B1)

Meánrang 2: A continuation of Meánrang 1 (Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge level B2)

Ardrang 1: For people with good Irish who wish to improve their pronunciation, grammar, sayings and vocabulary (Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge level B2/C1)

Rang Cruinnis: For people with good Irish who want to achieve a higher level of accuracy, particularly in the written language. The course is  suitable for people who use Irish regularly in their work. (Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge level C2)

Conradh na Gaeilge's courses are compatible with the European Certificate in Irish (TEG) syllabi from National University of Ireland, Maynooth (NUIM).

The teaching staff at Conradh na Gaeilge use TEG's (Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge) framework to structure their courses. Each teacher has the freedom to cover their own material also. This course will help those looking to sit the official TEG exams, however it is entirely up to the individual learner to prepare suitably for those exams. A wide range of topics will be covered in the classes: conversational Irish, Irish grammatical structures, listening exercises, reading and more.

While Conradh na Gaeilge does not currently run any official TEG examinations as part of its courses, any student interested in completing the certificate can contact NUIM directly at the number below.

TEG is an exam system for adult learners of Irish from the basic level (A1/A2) to the intermediate level (B1/B2) to the higher level (C1/C2). This testing system was developed in the Languages Unit of NUIM in order to provide an examination system for adult Irish learners in Ireland and abroad who would like to plan their study and see the results of their learning on a personal and professional basis.

TEG exams are currently being offered at 5 levels - A1, A2, B1, B2, and C1 in various centres around the country (Maynooth, Gaoth Dobhair, Letterkenny, Castlebar, An Spidéal, Limerick, Cork, Kilkenny, Kilarney, and Belfast) and in five centres abroad - New York, Paris, Prague, Ottawa, and Sydney. This system helps learners to structure their study and receive recognition for the progress they have made. Also, it gives proof to employers of language ability when selecting job candidates.

The Language Unit is continuously working to provide teaching material for tutors/organisations who wish to steer their learners in the direction of TEG. Teaching materials are available at levels A1, A2, B1, and B2 and can be accessed on-line. Syllabi and directions have been set out for the other levels and work is currently underway on the teaching material.

Classes are priced between €120 and €200 depending on the length of the term, the length of the classes and the location of the class venue.

Discounts are available in some situations: if you are returning to our classes, if you are on the pension, if you are unemployed or a student. We do not have an official system to accept private tuition however if you forward all information to Caoimhe (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) i.e which level you need, where you are situated and how many hours in a week you need etc. She will circulate this information with the teachers' panel. If a teacher accepts them, the agreement will be between yourself and the teacher, privately.

We run preparation courses a number of times a year, courses to prepare learners for the Irish language interview for entry onto the Hibernia course and courses for those preparing for the TEG B1 level oral exam.
