Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia in Stormont & Leinster HouseSeachtain na Gaeilge le Energia will be celebrated in Leinster House and Stormont today (Tuesday, 7 March 2017). In the Dáil, the Order of Business and Leaders' Questions will be held through Irish and the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Heather Humphreys TD, will be taking questions. Conradh na Gaeilge's booklet Ár dTeanga Roinnte will be launched in Stormont.

Conchubhair Mac Lochlainn, Chairperson of Seachtain na Gaeilge said:

“It's significant that Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia is being celebrated in Leinster House and in Stormont as it shows that Irish has a central role to play in public representation. The participation of Leinster House and Stormont in Seachtain na Gaeilge gives recognition to the festival.”

As part of Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia in Leinster House, students from Gaelcholáiste Choilm in Cork, Pobalscoil Chloich Cheannfhaola in Donegal and Coláiste an Eachréidh in Galway will take part in the Joint Committee on the Irish language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands; RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta will broadcast Nuacht a hAon live from Leinster House; and Colm Ó Broin will give a talk on ‘alternative facts' regarding the Irish language in the media and society in a Mythbusting presentation.

The booklet Ár dTeanga Roinnte: Bunús, Éabhlóid agus Forbairt na Gaeilge will be launched in the Glass House on the Stormont Estate tonight (Tuesday, 7 March 2017) at 7.30pm. Máirtín Ó Muilleoir and Uachtarán Chonradh na Gaeilge, Niall Comer, will be guest speakers on the night. There will be refreshments and music from Coláiste Phádraig, Maghera. The Ár dTeanga Roinnte project is funded by the Executive Office's Central Good Relations Funding Programme.

Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia will be back in Stormont Tuesday, 14 March 2017. Conradh na Gaeilge will hold an intercommunity presentation on Ár dTeanga Roinnte with schools from around the North in the Long Gallery at 10am. Barra Best from BBC Ulster will be MC for the event, Máirtín Ó Muilleoir will be guest speaker and there will be music from JJ Ó Dochartaigh.
